The FBI has issued a warning to travelers to be use caution when using wireless internet services provided by hotels due to security concerns.
Hackers are targeting travelers by creating fake pop-up windows when users try to access the hotel’s wireless network. The windows request personal information or ask the user to do a software update which then downloads malware onto the user’s computer.
Security experts recommend updating all software and anti-virus programs before going on the road and to back up any sensitive information.
We recommend that travelers not follow any software update recommendations unless they are on a secure and trusted internet connection.
