A father and daughter team from California set up a bogus investment firm claiming to own oil fields in Ohio that would yield a massive 30% return for investors. But as those oil fields didn’t exist, what they did was to host weekly events at an obsolete oil field in California and they then rigged the pumps. Investors were asked to invest $30,000 at a time. Hired by a disgruntled investor, Juval Aviv set up a sting posing as an investor from a German pension fund, and after securing the bank details of the couple, recovered a jaw dropping of $436 Million.
After discovering their assets had been frozen, the father and daughter were later arrested at LAX trying to fly to Brazil.
