A Far East publisher of self-help books was concerned about publication of a book in the Far East that was critical of it’s major author’s reputation and personal history. The clients suspected a connection between the unknown writer of this book and his biggest competitor in the market about whom they knew very little.
Interfor developed extensive information on the competitor, including financial histories on his companies, problems with regulators and his business empire, as well as background information about the unknown writer.
Interfor was then able to demonstrate a long-term personal and business relationship between the competitor and the writer of the critical book: they had both served on the board of a major nonprofit organization, and the competitor was the main contributor to the organization, which operated primarily in the Far East and utilized the competitor’s materials. The clients then used these findings in filing suit against the competitor.
